Register Devices for Dash Replenishment
To enable Dash Replenishment in your skill or ACK product, register your device in the Dash console and identify the replacement parts or supplies. For details about how to update device information, see Manage Dash Replenishment Devices.
Complete the following steps to register your device. For an overview of Dash Replenishment, see About Dash Replenishment.
Prerequisites
Before you start, complete the following prerequisites:
- You have an Amazon developer account. You can use an existing Amazon account to sign in, or you can create a new Amazon developer account. The account is free.
- Your product complies with the Amazon Dash Replenishment Program Requirements.
- You have an image of your device on a white or a transparent background in BMP, JPG, PNG, or GIF format. The image size must not exceed 1 MB.
Steps to register a device for Dash Replenishment
To register your device for Dash Replenishment and define the replacement parts or supplies, complete the following steps.
- Register a new device.
- Customize your device.
- Define the consumable products.
- Request replenishment IDs.
- Request test accounts.
Step 1: Register a new device
To register a new device for Dash Replenishment, you create a new device in the Dash console.
To create a device in the Dash console
- Sign in to the Dash console with your Amazon developer account.
- Click CREATE A DEVICE.
- For Choose what kind of device you want, select ALEXA SKILLS KIT DEVICE or ALEXA CONNECT KIT DEVICE.
- For Choose a name for your device, enter a device name that identifies your device in the Dash console.
This name isn't displayed to the customer.
Maximum characters: 60 - For Choose or generate a Model ID for your device, enter the model number for your device, or to generate a model ID, click GENERATE NEW ID.
This name isn't displayed to the customer. - If your device is an Alexa Connect Kit device, for Enter your Device Type, enter the device type value for your device.
You can find your
deviceType
identifier in your ACK configuration file. For details, see Download your configuration file. - To create a new device, click Save.
Step 2: Customize your device
After you create the device, you configure the information about your device.
To customize the device in the Dash console
- To upload an image of your device, on Upload Device Image, click .
Choose an image with a white or transparent background with a maximum size of 1 MB.
The customer sees the image in low supply notifications, such as email. - To add the device friendly name, open the Device Localization tab.
- Enter the localized friendly name for your device, and then click Update.
The customer sees the friendly name in the Alexa app and in inventory notifications.Note: You can add additional marketplaces for the device.
Step 3: Define the consumable products
In this step, you define the consumable products that your device supports. For each consumable product, you add a corresponding slot. For example, for a vacuum, you add one slot for the filter and one slot for the brush.
For each slot that you define, Amazon provides a consumable product inventory Amazon Standard Identification Number (ASIN) list. Every ASIN on the list is available on the Amazon retail website for the marketplaces where you want to offer Dash Replenishment.
To define the consumable products in the Dash console
- To add the consumable products, at the top of the page next to Device Slots, click , and then follow these steps:
- For SLOT 01, under Consumable Category, select the product category for the item.
Note: If none of the category options apply or your device works with your manufactured products only or you want to limit the replacement products to your manufactured products only, select Other. Then, send your custom ASIN list to Amazon. For more details, see Contact the Dash Replenishment program.
- To add another slot, click + Add another slot, and then, enter an identifier for the slot. This ID isn't displayed to the customer.
- Under Consumable Category, select the product category for the item in that slot.
- For each additional slot that you want to add, repeat Steps b and c.
- To delete a slot, find the slot name that you want to delete, and then click x.
- To save the slots, click Save.
- For SLOT 01, under Consumable Category, select the product category for the item.
- Open the Slot Localization tab.
- For Customer-Facing Slot Name, enter the localized product type for the item in that slot, and then click Update.
The slot name identifies the replaceable product type. The customer sees this name in inventory notifications. - To view the replacement products for the slot, open the ASIN List.
- Repeat for each slot and marketplace.
Step 4: Request replenishment IDs
After you define the consumable products, request a replenishment ID for each slot. You include these replenishment IDs in the inventory interfaces in your discovery response.
To request replenishment IDs in the Dash console
- Open the Testing tab, and then open the 1. Replenishment ID tab.
- For each slot that your device supports, select the sensor type, and then provide as much information as possible to describe your sensor and your consumable product.
Note: If the options don't apply to your sensor or consumable product, select Other for applicable questions, and then, enter additional details in the Sensor Description and Additional Detail field.
- After you complete the information for each slot, to request replenishment IDs, click Submit.
Or, to save the information and continue later, click Save.
An Amazon representative reviews the request, and then adds the replenishment IDs to the Dash console within seven business days.
After Amazon assigns replenishment IDs for your slots, you can view them on the Request Replenishment ID tab in the Dash console. Make sure that you include the replenishment IDs in the inventory interfaces in your discovery response.
Step 5: Request test accounts
After Amazon assigns replenishment IDs for your slots, you can request test accounts in each marketplace where you offer your skill. Amazon adds the specified customer test accounts to the allow list for testing. You can have different accounts per marketplace. Use these accounts to test Dash Replenishment with your skill.
To request test accounts in the Dash console
- Under Marketplaces, click the marketplace where you want to request test accounts.
- Open the Testing tab, and then open the 2. Customer IDs tab.
- For Add a customer ID, enter the customer ID, and then click Add.
To find your customer ID, sign in to the Alexa developer console, and then open Customer Details. - Repeat for each account and marketplace that you want to allow list for testing.
You can add up to 10 IDs.

To contact the Dash Replenishment program
- Sign in to the Alexa developer console.
- Open the Alexa Developer Contact Us page.
- Under Type, choose Dash Replenishment.
- Under Category, choose the appropriate category for your question.
- In the Subject and Description boxes, provide a summary and details of your question.
- To send the question, click Submit.
