Alexa Skills Kit SDK Deprecation Policy
Although the legacy version (v1) of the Alexa Skills Kit SDKs for Node.js and Java continue to work, we recommend that you migrate to the latest version (v2). By using the latest SDK version, you can take advantage of improvements including better request handlers, better skill data handling through the attributes manager, simplified calls to Alexa services, and support for error handlers.
SDK deprecation timeline
To help give you time to plan your migration from the Node.js SDK v1 and Java SDK v1:
- Until October 20, 2019, we'll support API updates to existing service clients, and we'll address non-critical bugs in priority order.
- After October 20, 2019 and until March 1, 2020, we'll only support fixing critical bugs and security-related issues.
- After March 1, 2020, we'll no longer make bug fixes and updates to the SDK v1.
To report bugs, request service API updates, or ask questions, see the Issues section of the Alexa Skills Kit SDK for Node.js and the Alexa Skills Kit SDK for Java.
