Brian started programming on a PDP-11 back in the day. He took a detour to get a degree in Cognitive Psychology working with bottlenosed dolphins in Hawaii ... doing a thesis on learning models.
He accumulated 10 US Patents in areas such as interface design, CDN caching and video streaming. He is also an AWS Community Hero and runs the Boston AWS User Group.
His main Alexa skill is Premier League which provides a wealth of information and analytics about The Beautiful Game (soccer). The skill makes heavy use of sound and graphics and is rated in the top 5% of sports skills. He has spoken about Alexa Emotionality at numerous meetups and at Voice 2022.
In addition to his technical work, Brian is also an advocate for diversity and inclusion in the technology industry. He has organized several initiatives aimed at promoting diversity and providing opportunities for under represented groups.
